Sister Jean B. Bingham, Relief Society general president for the LDS Church offered a prayer for the National Day of Prayer at the White House on May 3, 2018, according to a press release from Mormon Newsroom.

Sister Bingham was scheduled to join her fellow sisters in the Relief Society General Presidency, Sister Sharon Eubank and Sister Reyna I. Aburto, for the evening session at the BYU Women’s Conference on May 3.

Sister Eubank and Sister Aburto recognized Sister Bingham’s absence at the session in the Marriott Center, remarking on Sister’s Bingham’s request by the First Presidency to represent the church at this event.

In Sister Bingham’s prayer, she acknowledged the many “good gifts” that come from God, according to the text of her prayer provided in the press release. She continued by asking for help to be “good Samaritans” in serving others.

“We also recognize the need to improve, Father,” Sister Bingham’s prayer continued. “Help us to find ways to understand and value one another, to work together in cooperation and selflessness, rather than seek for personal gain, to satisfy vain ambitions, or to gratify pride. May we examine ourselves and become better individuals, thereby increasing the peace and happiness of each citizen in this United States of America.”
